The Villagers defy all the odds and earn a well deserved point in a 1-1 draw away at Cumbrian outfit Windscale FC.

With the Windscale syndrome once again applying Wolviston Manager Paul Larkin had to make 8 changes to the side that drew 2-2 at Norton last wednesday. With outfielder Jon McLone having to play in goal and two brave reserve team players Paul could only turn out a bare eleven to face high flyers Windcale F.C desperately looking for points. Pauls decision with the players available was to "park the bus" to frustrate Windscale and rely on a quick counter attacking break in a bid to win the game. The opening 20 mins belonged to the home team with Lewis Jolly going close followed by visiting keeper Jon McLone who had to bravely save to prevent Matty Metcalfe from scoring. Pauls plan worked well when in the 25th min a long ball over the top by Chris Cotterill found Callum Blair and although his lob hit the post he followed up to smash the rebound home. 10 mins later Windscale did have the ball in the net but Jolly was adjudged to have fouled keeper McLone. In the last minute of the half a cross from Ross Leeson found Lewis Selkirk at the far post but from a good position headed wide.
H.T. 0-1
The 2nd period as expected was all out attack by Windscale which resulted in the equaliser in the 53rd min. A throw in by Dan Morgan found Lewis Selkirk who spotted a gap in the defence and thundered home his shot past McLone. This was followed in the 68th min with Windscales skipper Metcalf hitting the bar with a looping header with the home side now applying severe pressure. In a rare counter attack Wolvos Blair seen his strong shot cleared for a corner and then with only 2 mins remaining the striker bore down on goal with only Jolly to beat but the home keeper made a tremendous save. In the 2nd min of added on time Lewis Jolly shot wide from a good position.
F.T. 1-1
This was a truly magnificent result against all the odds and credit must go to each and every Wolviston players who performed over and above the call of duty.
