An unexpected result against Norton and Stockton Ancients.

For the 2nd game running Wolviston made several changes and on paper turned out an extremely strong squad in their fight to gain much needed points. Sadly a woeful first half performance dictated the end result. After only 2 mins some indifferent defending allowed Ben Priestley time and space to score for Norton from close range. 7 mins later a kick out by keeper Connor Smith, making his debut for the team, inadvertently fell to Jake Stott who immediately crossed to Ben Priestley who registered his 2nd of the game. On 13 mins Stott again found Nathan Bayes who bundled home Nortons 3rd. 5 mins later a cross from Jack Large was powerfully headed home by Nathan Bayes with Wolviston having nothing in reply. Home keeper Smith then made a tremendous save to stop Bayes from recording a hat trick. This lasted only 1 min as in the 21st min a corner from Ryan Watson was powerfully headed home by central defender Marcus Laing to incredibly put Norton 5-0 in front. As the end of the half was drawing close keeper Smith made another fine save when denying Ryan Watson with Norton looking likely to score whenever they attacked.

In a much improved 2nd half performance Wolviston came more into the game and in the 51st min Matty Wilshaw saw his strong drive pushed away for a corner by keeper Michael Arthur. This was followed by the speedy striker clean through but Arthur made another smart save. Chaos in the home defence on 75 mins allowed Ben Priestley to register his hat trick with a simple tap in. Wolviston finally pulled a goal back and completed the scoring when a cross from Bailey Geldhart found Callum Blair who scored with a looping header over keeper Arthur.
