Deerness Valley started off strong with Kon Pavlou causing early problems for the Wolvo defence with his speed down the right hand side of the pitch. However the first meaning full attack of the game fell to Wolvo after Elliot Pledger picked out Harry Minto who saw his first time shot parried away by Valley keeper James Brown. Valley took the lead on 22 mins after some dazzling footwork by Sean Young was rewarded by him tucking home from a tight angle. A golden chance fell to Jamie Roberts to equalise on 35 mins but keeper Brown made a last ditch save with his legs. With time running down for the first period Valley thought they had increased their lead when Ben Medland forced the ball home but his effort was ruled out by ref Mathew Martin for touching the ball out of the hands of keeper Kallen Waterman.
H.T. 0-1
Within 7 mins of the restart Minto set up Roberts whose first time shot was brilliantly saved by Brown to deny the home club an equaliser. In a quick counter attack Valley broke and sub Luke Duncan brought a fine smothering save from keeper Waterman. Coach Stewart Bath quickly changed the formation by bringing on three subs but sadly Wolvo went further behind on 65 mins. A shot from Medland was brilliantly saved by Waterman but sub Liam Graham was on hand to stroke home the rebound. A never say die spirit from Wolvo pulled a goal back in the 77th min when Pledger played in Harry Minto who kept his cool to slot past a bemused Brown in the Valley goal. With 5 mins remaining Pledger received the ball, turned, but unsure of his position his shot hit the side netting. Down at the other end Jools Porthouse blazed over the bar from over 3 yards out which would have given Valley a deserved victory but remarkably Wolvo broke away in the 89th min to equalise. Some trickery down the right by Pledger brought fruition after his accurate cross was nodded home by man of the match Harry Minto at the far post.
