If you’ve spent any time around Wolviston FC, you’ll know we take player welfare seriously. From the first whistle of pre-season to the last kick of the campaign, keeping our players fit, healthy and confident is a huge part of what we do. Now, we’re taking that commitment to the next level with a brand new physio treatment room right inside the Wolviston FC clubhouse.
After several weeks of intense graft, late nights and a serious amount of DIY determination, our club physio Dave has transformed a space in the clubhouse into a dedicated treatment room – and it’s now officially open for business as Going The Distance Sports Therapy. What started as an idea to better support our own players has grown into something even bigger: a professional sports therapy service that’s open not just to Wolvo, but to the wider community too.
We’ve always known our lads and lasses were in the best possible hands on matchdays. Now, runners, gym-goers, weekend warriors, grassroots players and anyone carrying a niggle or a long-term injury can benefit from the same high standard of care. Whether you’re struggling with a tight hamstring, recovering from a knock, or just feeling the effects of a busy life, you can now get expert support without travelling miles or waiting weeks.
Treatments available through Going The Distance Sports Therapy include sports massage, deep tissue massage, lymphatic massage, injury consultation and assessment, injury reassessment, personalised rehabilitation plans and Pulsio compression recovery boot sessions. In simple terms: if your body needs looking after, there’s something here for you. Every session is tailored to the individual, with a focus on proper recovery, long-term rehabilitation and helping people get back to doing what they love as safely and quickly as possible.
Appointments will be available on weekdays (Monday to Friday), fitted around Dave’s other work commitments, so there’s flexibility to find a time that works for both sides. Payments can be made by cash or bank transfer, and all treatments take place in the comfort and privacy of the clubhouse – the same environment our players already know and trust.
For Wolviston FC, this is another step in building a proper community hub at Metcalfe Park. Football might be at the heart of what we do, but looking after people – their health, their wellbeing and their enjoyment of sport – is just as important.
If you’d like to book in for a session or find out more about what’s on offer, head over to Dave’s page, Going The Distance Sports Therapy, on Facebook and drop him a message to get the ball rolling:
