Wolviston FC U12 Girls produced an excellent all round performance this morning as they recorded a 9–0 victory over Dormanstown Rovers.

The scoreline was impressive, but even more pleasing was the way the girls played. Several players were asked to operate outside their usual positions and all responded really well.

Wolvo started strongly and were rewarded with five first half goals. Isla opened the scoring, with Eboni also finding the net before Keira struck twice. Martha added another to give the girls a commanding lead at the break.

The performance remained just as strong after half time. Eboni grabbed her second of the game, while Farah and Bella both got on the scoresheet before Martha completed the scoring with her second.

While the goals will naturally catch the eye, there was plenty more to be pleased about. The girls showed great work rate out of possession, pressed the opposition well and looked increasingly composed when they had the ball.

There was also clear evidence of the work being done on the training ground, with better communication, movement and passing throughout the game. Players were looking up more often, making smarter decisions and creating chances for one another.

That progress followed a special midweek training session when the girls were joined by first team coach James alongside Wolviston Ladies players Michaela and Jess. The visit gave the squad another opportunity to learn, ask questions and work on different parts of their game, and plenty of that showed on matchday.

There were several contenders for Girl of the Match, but Keira took the award after an excellent display. Alongside her two goals, her passing and willingness to bring her teammates into the game really stood out.

A special mention also goes to Gigi, who has stepped straight into the team despite having relatively little previous playing experience. Her attitude and commitment have been excellent, and her confidence continues to grow with every game.

A brilliant morning for the girls, but most importantly another big step forward in their development.

Well played, Wolvo. Let’s keep this run going!
