Played in memory of Michael Welford, it was an emotional and memorable afternoon, with a brilliant crowd turning out to witness a landmark day in the club's history.

With both sides playing their first pre-season fixture, the opening stages were competitive and end-to-end. There was plenty of quality on show, but also the expected signs of players finding their rhythm after the summer break.

The breakthrough came in the 13th minute when Sophie Antoniou, proudly sponsored by Garvey's IT Services, fired Wolvo into the lead with a tremendous left footed strike form just outside the area.

Just seven minutes later, Michaela Garvey, sponsored by Imperial Recruitment Group, doubled the advantage to make it 2-0 with a great strike from 25 yards..

Redcar responded with an excellent strike, lobbing the goalkeeper to pull one back before half-time. Wolvo created a couple more chances before the break but went in 2-1 up, looking comfortable and in control.

The second half was a completely different story.

As the game wore on, Wolviston grew stronger with every passing 10-minute spell, moving the ball brilliantly and creating chance after chance.

Jess Wallace, proudly sponsored by Andy's Man Club / Frank Garvey, stole the headlines with a sensational 10-minute hat-trick, scoring three superb goals in the space of just ten minutes to put the game beyond doubt.

With confidence flowing, Georgia Dawes, sponsored by Monsen Builders & Monsen Beauty, burst through the middle onto a perfectly weighted through ball before calmly slotting home for Wolvo's sixth.

The scoring was completed by Sara Ellis, proudly sponsored by Kiddy Kickz & Find Your Feet HQ & Away Sponsor Red SKA , whose dangerous inswinging corner flew all the way into the net to seal a memorable 7-1 victory.
