In the 4th minute Wolviston won a penalty after Nathan O'conner brought down new boy Tony Johnson making his debut. For the 2nd game in succession David Johnson saw his spot kick saved by Darlington keeper Mathew Bancroft. On 10 mins both keepers were brought into action with first Davidson for Wolviston saving well from Nathan Stephenson, then at the other end Bancroft getting down quickly to save an angled drive from Gareth Brown. On 32 mins Wolviston attacked again and a 1-2 between Junior Masandi and Tony Johnson ended with Stewart Bath blazing high over the bar. Darlington took the lead on 35 mins after ref Geoff Mann played advantage and Stephenson fed Vinny Steels who scored low to Davidsons right.

13 mins into the second period Davidson had to be alert to save at the feet of Steels. Wolviston deservedly equalised on 60 mins after Masandi fed Famara Jaffa whose strong shot was saved by Bancroft, the rebound fell to Masandi whose close range effort was again incredibly stopped by Bancroft but the rebound once again fell to Masandi who scooped home. Wolviston then took the lead on 71 mins when sub Steve Pickard played the ball to Bath who immediately returned the ball to Pickard who volleyed home from 6 yards within a minute of coming on as sub. A tremendous save from Davidson yet again from Steels kept Wolviston in front on 74 mins. A minute later Darlington keeper Bancroft made a truly wonderful save to deny Tony Johnson. Steels then hit the post with Darlington pressing hard for the equaliser. It was however the home team that went further in front on 87 mins after great fast feet by Tony Johnson found Pickard who played the ball into the path of Stewart Bath who unleashed an unstoppable screamer from 25 yards past Bancroft.
