With Wolvistons leading scorer Mikey McGee missing along with Darlingtons top striker Jamie Beauchamp this game looked like being a low scoring event but how wrong can you be. Wolviston attacked from the off and in the very first minute Jake Stott raced down the right and crossed only to be missed by new boy Chris Stockton at the far post. This was followed by 2 shots in 10 minutes from Scott Ryan both which failed to find the target. Darlington took the lead with their very first attack on 16 minutes after a defensive lapse allowed Aiden Cattermole freedom to shoot and although Elliott Coils in the home goal made a brave save the rebound fell back to Cattermole who made no mistake at the 2nd attempt. 3 mins later the visitors went further in front with a very controversial penalty. James Stanger timed his tackle to perfection to stop Ben Wood but the striker fell over his outstretched leg which caused ref Andrew Broadbent to award a spot kick which Wood himself dispatched with ease. The visitors were reduced to 10 men in the 30th minute when defender Daniel Shoulder was dismissed for denying Chris Stockton a clear goal scoring opportunity. On 40 mins Elliott Coils in the home goal made a fine save to prevent Wood from increasing Darlingtons lead. Wolviston were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box in the 41st minute but Nathan Bayes missed the target. Right on the stroke of half time the home team pulled a goal back after good interpassing by Dec Blades, Bayes and Dimitri Kehi resulted in the latter scoring with a left foot shot into the bottom corner of the net.
H.T. 1-2
On the restart Coils once again denied Wood by making a tremendous save. With 55 mins played sub Luke Walton beat the offside trap but visiting keeper Chris Charlton came out and smothered him effort injuring himself in the process. Wolviston equalised in the77th minute when Blades crossed from the right, found Ryan who looped it onto sub Aaron Dale who headed home. With the home team now in the ascendancy it came down to keeper Charlton who made a tremendous brave save to deny Ryan claiming all points for Wolviston.
