Wolviston FC draw for the 3rd home game on the trot.

Keith Simpson18 Aug 2022 - 07:48

The Villagers share 8 goals with neighbours Norton and Stockton Ancients.

With Manager Chris Lax having to make several changes again for the 5th game in succession along with another debutante in Charlie Raby it was always going to be difficult to grind out a result against in form Norton and Stockton Ancients. It was the visitors who took the game to Wolviston and Rory Sawyer was unlucky to see his volley clip the bar and away to safety. In a counter attack 3 mins later Joe Thompson tested visiting keeper Jacob Crowle with a snap shot which the keeper fielded safely. On 21 mins Stocktons Ben Priestley burst through but sent his shot wide before a crazy one minute later which saw 3 goals. On 22 mins Wolviston old boy Joel Callender scored after playing a one two with Matt Dixon but Wolviston replied from the restart with Aaron Dale tapping home from close range after a cross from Chris Stockton. 30 seconds later a ball over the non existent Wolviston defence found Joel Callender again who looped a header over the out rushing Elliott Coils. On 38 mins Wolviston equalised after a corner from Scott Ryan was headed home superbly at the far post by Aaron Dale to score his 2nd of the game. With Wolviston now pushing forward they finally went in front with a stunning 20 yard drive by full back Joe Thompson who literally lashed the ball into the back of the net.
H.T. 3-2
Indecision once again by the home defence allowed Nortons Joe Taylor to equalise in the 51st minute. With the game now swinging end to end it took a freak goal from Nortons Nathan Callendar which came in the 57th minute when he looped a speculative cross deep from the right which sailed over a back peddling Coils into the top corner. 7 mins later and the tie was level once again in spectacular fashion which caused Nortons coaching staff great consternation. A free kick from 25 yards was allowed to be taken quickly by ref Alan Powells and Charlie Raby took advantage to curl a beauty past a stranded Crowle. With 15 mins remaining Chris Stockton back healed home but his effort was ruled offside. With 4 mins left Elliott Coils made a superb tip over the bar from Joe Taylor and then in the final minute made another tremendous stop to deny Norton from winning the game.
F.T. 4-4
