Wolvo faced title contenders Deerness Valley trying to extend their 6 match unbeaten league run. It was a very even opening 15 mins until Wolvos Josh Chambers was sent to the sin bin for remarks made to the referee. A minute later Valley took advantage of the extra man and went in front after some slack defending allowed Sean Young to score from 8 yards. Wolvo counterattacked in the 20th min when Alex Snaith found Elliott Pledger whose shot was twice saved by keeper James Rutherford to concede a corner. 5 mins later the big shot stopper made a brilliant save again from Pledger who looked like curling his shot into the top corner. With Wolvo at this point attacking constantly man of the match Harry Minto saw his effort tipped over the bar once again by Rutherford. With 8 mins of the half remaining Wolvo deservedly equalised when Ben Priestley fed Charlie Thompson down the right who in turn crossed the ball into the box for Elliott Pledger to run the ball home at the far post. With the clock ticking down to half time Wolvo keeper Kallen Waterman allegedly fouled Sam Horner to concede a penalty which Jed Dominik confidently stroked home. Waterman also received a yellow card which came as a double blow as his effort looked like a good save rather than a penalty.
H.T. 2-1
Valley quickly increased their lead a minute into the second period after a cut back down the left by Sean Young was smashed into the bottom corner by Joe Foster. Wolvo never gave up and in the 55th min Pledger was blatantly pulled down in the box by Tyler Heavyside but for some reason ref Steve Bowes waved play on instead of awarding a penalty. 3 mins later Valley keeper Rutherford once again saved with his legs from danger man Pledger. Valley practically put the game beyond Wolvo in the 68th min when a cross from Dominik was crashed home by Sam Horner. Wolvos never say die spirit was rewarded in the 70th min after a good run down the left by Alex Snaith was rewarded with his cut back finding Ben Priestly who smashed home from the 6 yard box. On the stroke of full time Valley took advantage of a fortunate lucky rebound with sub Jools Porthouse tapping home to finish off a scoreline that in no way reflected the score line.
