Wolviston FC end the season with an away draw.

Keith Simpson10 May - 15:44

The Villagers share the spoils 2-2 with Shildon BR in an exciting finish.

For the final game of the season Wolviston F.C. sadly could only take a skeleton team to face Shildon B.R. The bare eleven without any subs included 16 year old Ollie Probart making his debut in the visitors goal. Wolvo started brightly and in the 14th min Elliott Pledger tested BR keeper Charlie Broom who parried his shot into the path of Sam Simpson but his rebound was cleared to safety. On 22 mins a cross from the right by BR Jake Heighington found Ed Noble at the near post to sweep home from close range and put Shildon in the lead. In reply Pledger hit the inside of the post in a quick counter followed by Jae Wilson heading over from a corner by Robbie Gratton.
H.T. 1-0
In the 57th min Luca Petch saw his strong drive superbly saved by Ollie Probart who displayed his athletic skills. 8 mins later a free kick by Pledger was well saved by sub keeper Elliott Finch. In the 73rd min a ball from the right by Courtney Machanyagwa fell to Lucas Sidebottom who tapped home Shiltons 2nd despite a brave attempt at saving by Probart. The young shot stopper was called into action with 4 mins remaining with him parrying away a hard drive from Joe Dunn. With 2 mins remaining the game was turned completely on its head with an unexpected turn around by Wolvo. Some tremendous interplay between Josh Chambers and Elliiott Pledger resulted in the latter bundling home at the far post. This was followed in the 90th min with a corner from Pledger which Wilson powerfully headed goalwards but Finch brilliantly tipped his effort away for a corner. In the 5th min of added on time a corner by Pledger caused mayhem in the Shildon defence and the ball fell to Bailey Geldart who swept home his first goal of the season to draw the game level with the ref blowing for full time as the ball hit the back of the net.
F.T. 2-2
Special recognition must be recorded for the 11 lads who turned out to get a positive result for the Mighty Wolvo. The season is now finished and its down to Paul and Stewie to rebuild for next season and make a determined push for promotion back to the Premier Division.
