Wolviston kicked off the new season with a derby game against neighbours F.C. Hartlepool with a new look formation. Pools started quickly and had two early chances by Will Clapham and Josh Boyd but one shot wide and the other was dispossessed by Alex Snaith as he was about to shoot. The home team were forced into an early substitution when Lewis Snaith felt unwell and had to be replaced with new boy Joe Simpson who quickly made his mark by hitting the bar in a quick counter attack with his first touch of the ball. Changes were made again in the 28th min with skipper Jamie Roberts having to leave the field of play and was replaced by Matty Bendelow. Pools ended the half in command and both Harrison Bowker and Tyler Brown missed late chances.
H.T. 0-0
Wolvo started to come more into the game in the 2nd period and Harry Minto was unlucky to see his close range chance locked for a corner. It was however Pools who took the lead in the 56th min when a Wolvo pass was intercepted and pushed forward to Harvey Baldwin who kept his head and coolly slotted home the opener. 12 mins later a foul by Jacob Lamb was punished with a penalty by ref Steve Monkhouse and Reece Chambers making a welcome return to the club smashed home the equaliser from the spot. 2 mins later Chambers had a free kick on the edge of the box but hit his effort high. With 5 mins remaining a long range shot from Pools sub Jaxon Fletcher was brilliantly pushed away by home keeper Kallen Waterman to earn a deserved point for the Villagers.
