With a slightly weakened squad Wolviston F.C. knew they were in for a tough afternoon when facing title favourites Ferryhill Athletic. In only 2 mins a mistake by visiting keeper Kris Carr allowed Joe Simpson a chance but he flashed his effort wide. 5 mins later Athletic took the lead after indecision in the Wolvo defence allowed Deacon Simpson to score from close range. A rare counter by Wolviston on 21 mins saw a free kick by Reece Chambers which Carr held comfortably. On the half hour a shot from Athletics Alex Quin was safely held by home keeper Kallen Waterman. On 36 mins with Athletic pushing for a second m.o.m Waterman had to be alert to smother an effort from Kieron Richardson. On 39 mins after another defensive error by Wolvo allowed Richardson to make amends by scoring with ease.
H.T. 0-2
Ferryhill started the 2nd period where they left off and Shane Todd rattled the post with a strong shot. They soon however increased their lead on 52 mins when Kieron Richardson finished well with the visitors now rampant. 5 mins later Waterman made an absolute incredulous save by thwarting Richardson from close range. Quin for Athletic then hit the post with a speculative long range shot. The scoring was completed on the stroke of full time after yet another mistake by Wolvo presented the ball to Richardson who scored his hat trick with consummate ease.
