In their 2nd derby game in two weeks Wolviston once again were unable to field their strongest line up when playing hosts to neighbours Coxhoe Athletic. Straight from the kick off Coxhoes Calum Greaves broke clear but Kallen Waterman made a tremendous save near post to thwart the striker. On 6 mins a good football move from Wolvo found an opening for Harry Minto but ex Wolvo keeper Dan Hebden made a good last minute finger tip save. Two minutes later in an end to end game Waterman pushed a snapshot from Mark Kerins onto the bar and away for a corner. On 10 mins a cross from Minto was met first time by Reece Chambers but once again Hebden clawed away his effort. This was followed by a cross from Robbie Gratton which found Lewis Snaith but his header went wide. On 21 mins a free kick by Gratton was met by Sam O'Gorman but his header too went inches wide. 5 mins later an opportunist shot by Liam Graham was once again parried away by Waterman. A Jacob Waters shot for Wolviston was pushed away by Hebden for a corner which was cleared. Hebden then easily held a weak header from Lewis Snaith. Right on the stroke of half time Wolviston took the lead when Harry Minto on the right found Reece Chambers whose first time left footed drive found the corner of the net.
H.T. 1-0
Right from the re start Snaith broke clear, rounded keeper Hebden but ran out of space to concede a goal kick. On 69 mins a corner by Reece Chambers found O'Gorman whose header was cleared off the line by defender Joe Armstrong. With Wolvo now pushing for the crucial 2nd goal a great chance fell to sub Jamie Roberts who hesitated slightly too long and was dispossessed. This was a gritty team result that deserved the 3 points.
