With storm Austen waning and storm Boelo brewing it made for difficult conditions in this local derby with Wolvo looking to get back to winning ways against neighbours Wynyard Village FC. With 6 ex Wolvo players in Wynyards squad it was always going to be played in a friendly type of rivalry which is exactly how it turned out. Not a bad tackle or yellow card during the whole 90 mins with the game played in a sporting fashion. The opening 10 mins of the game saw 2 offside goals one for each team being disallowed when first Wolvistons Marcus Allen netted followed quickly by Wynyards Reece Butterworth repeating the act. Wolvo took the lead on 15 mins when Harry Minto raced down the right to cross for Marcus Allen looking suspiciously offside to score with an angled drive. He repeated this 10 mins later but this time he was offside. The Visitors increased their lead on 25 mins when a corner by Allen found Chris Cotterill and although he fell over he quickly recovered to shoot powerfully home through a sea of bodies. On 30 mins Allen found himself through and on goal but his shot was brilliantly save by home keeper Daniel Guy. With Wolviston totally in command it came as a shock that 2 goals in the last 2 mins saw Wynyard draw level. First a corner by Aaron Ptohopoulos found Liam Archer who flicked in a header at the near post. In the final seconds of the half a corner by Ptohopoulos evaded everyone and the ball sailed into the far corner of the net.
H.T. 2-2
Directly from the kick off Wolviston again went ahead when a 25 yard free kick by MOM Josh Chambers evaded keeper Guy to settle in the bottom corner, In the 49th minute Jacob Watson burst down the right and his cross into the middle was thundered home by Jake Large. In the 64th min further good work by Watson was rewarded when his strong shot was parried by Guy and Jake Large smashed home the rebound. On 72 mins sub Laylan Donachie squared the ball to Sean O'Brian who drove home Wolvos 6th of the game. 2 mins later good work by Large came to fruition with his cross being nudged home by Alex Snaith. With a never give up attitude Wynyard once again responded with a goal by Henry Alleson.
