On Friday 18 July, the Wolviston FC family will come together for a very special occasion as we remember and celebrate the life of our much-loved Vice-President, Brian Jones – affectionately known by many as "Mr Wolvo."

Brian was not just a member of our club; he was its cornerstone.

His extraordinary journey with Wolviston FC began in 1959 when, at just 23 years old, he signed as a player. What followed was an incredible 66 years of unwavering dedication, service and support to the club he loved.

For generations of players, coaches, volunteers and supporters, Brian was simply part of Wolviston FC. Whether on the touchline, in the clubhouse, helping behind the scenes or travelling to away matches, his presence was a constant and reassuring part of club life.

Even at 89 years old, Brian's passion for Wolviston FC burned as brightly as ever. Rain or shine, he was a familiar face at home and away matches alike, offering encouragement, sharing stories and bringing a smile to everyone he met. His enthusiasm for the club was infectious, and his commitment inspired countless people over the years.

To honour Brian's remarkable contribution and legacy, Wolviston FC will take on a Wolviston Veterans side made up of former players and familiar faces from years gone by. More than just a football match, this will be an opportunity for our community to come together, share memories and celebrate a man who gave so much to the club and so many within it.

As part of the evening, shortly before kick-off, we will proudly rename the spectator stand at Metcalfe Park in Brian's honour. It is a fitting tribute to a man whose name will forever be synonymous with Wolviston FC and whose legacy will continue to inspire future generations of players, volunteers and supporters.

We would like to extend a warm invitation to Brian's family, friends, former teammates, supporters, volunteers and everyone connected with Wolviston FC to join us for what promises to be a memorable and emotional evening.

Whether you knew Brian personally or simply recognise the enormous impact he had on our club, we would love to see you there as we celebrate the life and legacy of a true Wolviston FC legend.
